Income Certificate

Income Certificate Types

Income certificate is a document signed by the authority of the employing company or the authorised employer to the employee as an acknowledgement of the amount of salary received by the employee. It is one of the important official documents which bear the sign of the issuing authority and the company seal. Income certificate can be classified into two types namely Income certificate issued every month and Income certificate issued at the end of financial year.

• Income Certificate Issued Every Month
Income certificate issued every month is termed as salary slip and is issued every month by the employer upon paying the monthly remuneration. It consists of the breakup of the salary such as basic salary, allowances, gross salary, statutory deductions like TDS, loan deductions, PF deductions and the net salary received by the employee in a particular month. Employee need to acknowledge the receipt of salary slip as an acknowledgement of receipt of salary and the confirmation of details mentioned therein. Receipt of medical allowance, bonus payments, or loan is also mentioned in the Income certificate.

• Income certificate issued at the end of financial year
Income certificate issued after the expiry of a financial year i.e from April to March contains the breakup of total amount of remuneration and the salary received by employee for the entire financial year. This certificate issued by the employer is a mandatory document to be filed with income tax papers in support of the income received by an individual for those people who file their income tax papers.

Income Certificates For the Economically Backward Class

1.This Requirements of Income Certificate:

• For receiving financial assistance from the various backward class Corporations of the State Govt.
• For entitlement to get Govt. plots of lands/flats.
• For getting admission in educational institutions from the reserved quota meant for that class.
• For getting benefit of various social benefit schemes declared by the Govt. from time to time.

• Govt. circular, Revenue & Forest Deptt. No.G.C.6776/47557/L.9 dt.19.8.1976
• Govt. circular, General Administration Deptt.No.SRV-1079/66/16.A

3.Whom to apply:

Collector of Mumbai City, Magisterial Branch,Old Custom House,Shahid Bhagatsingh Marg, Fort, Mumbai 400 001.

4.How to apply:

Affix Court Fee stamp of Rs.5/- on the application.

5.What documents to attach:

• Proof showing that the applicant falls below the poverty line
• Xerox copy of the first and last page of the Ration Card, duly attested.
• Affidavit duly affirmed on stamp paper of Rs.20/-

6.Where to submit the application

Magisterial Branch, concerned window,Ground.floor, Mumbai City Colelctorate , Old Custom House, Fort Mumbai-01.

7.Time limit within which the certificate will be delivered: Within 15 - days

8.Complaint Redressal Authority: Tehsildar

Documents Required for Income Certificate

Certificate will be issued normally within 15 days after submission of documents. All documents should be attached. Application forms should be signed by applicant. In case the applicant is a minor, it should be signed by the Adult guardian. Applicant should produce all original documents at the time of submission of Documents at SETU office. Attestation to be done by SEO/Gazetted Government Officers only:

1.Application duly signed by an Applicant (Original)

2.Rs. 5 Court Fee Stamp

3.Bonafied Certificate of son / daughter / Ward for whom the certificate is sought

4.Parent Income Certificate

The parent owns an Agricultural land, Farm House or any other business, please give details:

Income Tax Return copy should be attached.

The persons who are employed but not filing the Income Tax Return should submit the 'Salary Certificate'. Xerox(Attested)
